First Look Specifications: Samsung A8 & A8 Plus

Samsung will be introducing their new mid-range device with their new Samsung Galaxy A8 & A8 plus.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 series has the almost similar look to the Galaxy S9, with the same concept of fingerprint scanner below the back camera. Comes in gold, blue and orchid colour, it also has the gorgeous looking "Infinity Design".

In terms of screen resolution, the A8 plus has a 6-inch full HD display, while the A8 comes with 5.8-inch full HD display with both comprising the Amulet HD display. The traditional home button is gone for both models, replaced with a touch screen home button that is similar to the familiar Galaxy S8 to many.

While both phones are waterproof and dust resistant, it's durability is certainly on-par with the other smartphone competitors. It uses the fast charging type-c cable and your traditional 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom side of the phone. The speaker is located at the top right, just below the power button; being excellent placement as you won't be blocking the speaker sound with your fingers.

Both are equipped with the Android 7.1.1 software version that runs with the Exynos 7885 processor and a 4GB/6GB RAM (6GB RAM available for A8 Plus). For those who are have a heavy usage on storage, you don't have to worry about it as it comes with a 32GB/64GB internal storage with an expandable storage of 256GB micro SD card. The A8 comes with a 3000 mAh battery while the A8 plus provides with bigger battery of 3500 mAh.

The A8 and A8 plus is the first Samsung phone to feature a dual front camera of 16mp + 8mp combination with an aperture of f1.7. The rear camera also shoots at 16mp with the same aperture value at f1.7. Samsung says users can switch between the two cameras depending on the type of selfie you want — from close-ups, to portrait shots with a clear, crisp background. Samsung notes that the Live Focus features also allows you to adjust the bokeh effect before or after a picture is taken. The camera also features video digital image stabilization and also has a hyperlapse feature that allows you to create time-lapse videos.

Samsung will most probably be launching the phone in the early stage of January.
